1970s and 1980s?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Munich, especially the Schwabing district, was a hotspot for nightlife in the 1970s and 1980s with numerous legendary discotheques and clubs.<\/em> <em>In the 70s, Schwabing had a reputation for being charming, forbidden and exciting. It was a center of the hippie and flower power movement. Well-known personalities such as Rainer Langhans and model Uschi Obermaier lived here in the famous &#8220;Highfish Commune&#8221; in Giselastrasse  <\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Yellow Submarine<\/strong>: <br>Opened on April 2, 1971, this club was known as the &#8220;shark disco&#8221;. It was located in a three-storey building surrounded by an aquarium with 36 sharks. The club was later renamed &#8220;Aquarius&#8221; and existed until the 2000s with video screens instead of real sharks.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tiffany<\/strong>: <br>This club at Leopoldstrasse 69 was the Rolling Stones&#8217; favorite club when they were guests in Munich. Uschi Obermaier is also said to have met Mick Jagger and Keith Richards here. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-white-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-309bfda54f3e93b136b742f1fa248180\"><strong>Blow Up<\/strong>: <br>Germany&#8217;s first open-plan discotheque opened in 1967 on Elisabethmarkt in Schwabing and was one of the most famous nightclubs in Europe until it closed in 1972. The photo on the left shows the American Marsha Hunt, who dated Mick Jagger and became famous in 1968 for her leading role in the rock musical Hair in London. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-white-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-fccd4821572317d958b3be2eb75e08b7\"><strong>Big Apple<\/strong><br>This is where Jimi Hendrix played his first live concerts in Germany and then smashed his guitar.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-white-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-e22dc3e1d743ca2d657adff4e7732ace\" id=\"munich-disco-sound\">Munich Disco Sound<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>During this time, Munich was not only known for its nightlife, but also for the invention of the disco sound by Giorgio Moroder and Donna Summer in the Musicland studio in Arabellapark.
